Free tickets! Free tickets!

If you’re anything like me, you love drinking beer. And if there’s one thing you like better than that, it’s drinking free beer.

Since I’m not selfish in my quest for low-cost, yet delicious suds, I’m partnering with the good folks at Visit Omaha and the Omaha Beer Fest to offer you the opportunity for two free tickets to the Omaha Beer Fest held June 6-7.

Festival Info

All General Admission tickets are good for one day of sampling and include a tasting glass, unlimited 2-ounce samples of craft beer, live music and access to the hourly Beer Academy sessions. Friday General Admission tickets will also include access to the Homebrewer Expo, where you can taste through dozens of experimental homebrews courtesy of local and regional homebrewer associations. There will be hundreds of American craft beers to sample. The Beer Academy sessions will include tastings and food pairings, all included with your general admission ticket (but subject to availability). You must be 21+ with a valid ID to enter. No outside food or drink allowed (exception: water bottles and pretzel necklaces). No pets.

How to win

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below telling me why you deserve free tickets to the OBF. On Friday, May 16, at 4 p.m., I’ll scrutinize your responses and pick my favorite. No drawing names out of a hat, I’m choosing the winner based on the quality of your response, so get creative and have fun with it.

Good luck and I hope to see you there!

No creativity here, but I think I deserve tickets as my wife and I have been on a bit of an up and down swing as of late. Early last month our dog of the better part of a decade fell ill and the cost to bring him back to health proved to be a bit more than we could justify for the future we planned for. Now in the last two weeks we have been blessed with the news that we are expecting our first child near the end of the year, possibly the beginning of next. So in the interest of saving me money to buy some extra diapers and onesies I think I deserve the tickets!

All I can say is planning a wedding is stressful! This bride to be need a cold beer. Plus they are kind of expensive as well! 2 free tickets would be awesome!! Since our ‘fun money’ is minimal! Thanks!!! 🙂

I agree with my fiance. This would be a fun break from wedding planning and all the extra hours I’ve been working. 72 this week!

  4. Dylan Murphy says:

I wish I could beat that response, or make something up, but you should give the tickets to Ashley and Travis. Planning a wedding deserves a break and some good beers!

    And, if you wanted to give out another pair, I’d be happy to take them. ;

It’s simple. I love beer. All kinds, but especially the local brews. I think it’s important to support the little guys and spread the word on the good stuff. Omaha Beer fest is like a holiday weekend for me. I’m looking forward to it and can’t wait to see what’s new this year! Cheers!

  6. Steve Neufeld says:

    I need a reason????? I’m me. Isn’t that enough?

  7. Mary Ehlers says:

I think I should get a pair of tickets so I can take my beer loving husband!! This guy is always on the lookout for a new brew, even having an app to keep track of what he’s tried and where and special beer glasses for each different style. And after years and years (and YEARS) of never having the same days off together (yet alone a WEEKEND night!!), we finally DO! (Shift work is a drag but it does pay the bills!) Would love to surprise him with tickets!!

This would be a perfect break away from the kiddies! Raising 3 teenage boys and a pre-teen daughter and I’m new to the area definitely would like to experience something new and different. I’m from California so moving out here has definitely been different all together. I haven’t ventured out much. This would most definitely give me and hubby a chance to break away from the kids for a bit and have some good quality fun.

  9. Andrea Rauhut says:

It would be an awesome surprise for my hubby! We went to 2 beer festivals in Colorado last year but the Omaha Beer fest looks better than either if them! Can’t wait!

  10. Cristy Andre says:

Cause I love beer! What better way to try new beers than to hang out with hundreds at OBW?

  11. Mike Jenn says:

Opportunities – they can be fleeting and sometimes reciprocal. My wife and I have been to a few beer fests, have been called “beer tourists” (which we can’t deny), and have developed a fair palate for the barley, the yeast, and the hops. If Brewvana is going to Omaha perhaps we can offer a counterpoint, an alternate view, a chance for collaboration. We love beer, we love talking beer, and we’d love a chance to compare notes. Prost!

  12. Katie says:

I’ve never been to a beer festival, so I’d love a couple tickets. I recently brewed my first batch of beer with a Mr. Beer kit I received for Christmas, and it was TERRIBLE! I still open another bottle occasionally… hoping for a miracle. I could go for some beer that actually tastes good; it just might be the motivation I need before my second attempt at homebrewing! Also, a trip away from Audubon county would be fantastic. Thanks! Go beer!

  13. J says:

Katie, a word of advice: throw away that Mr. Beer kit and start fresh with real equipment.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Keep ’em coming!

  14. Kevin F. says:

I suffer from least common denominator syndrome – beer is all I have to talk about! In order for me to keep having something interesting to talk about I need to continually expand my beer knowledge. What better way than to go to Omaha Beer Fest and try beers from over 50 breweries?! Plus, it takes me one crucial step closer to achieving brewvana 🙂

  15. While I can hardly compete with a couple of wedding planners, or the lose of a dear pet, I’d thought I’d hat toss it anyway.

So, a haiku about going to a beer festival:

    Yes yes yes yes yes
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes
    Yes yes yes yes yes

I’ve never had an opportunity to go to any festivals, despite being in the scene for a few years. This would certainly pop my hop cone, so to speak. I would be proud to represent craft breer drinkers from the great state of Enthusiasm.

May the beer never stop flowing. Thanks for the consideration.

  16. J says:

This was a difficult decision. But the bottom line is this: I recall how poor I was when I first got married (actually, I still am) and I recall what a drag it was to pull that shindig together. So congrats, Ashley and Travis, on your upcoming marriage and your free tickets to the Omaha Beer Festival. I’ll shoot you an email for the details. Cheers!

  17. Ashley Burden says:

    Thank you! 🙂

  18. Todd Buffington says:

    Congrats guys!
