Beer pairings for regular folks, Part 8

[an occasional series on how “regular folks” can integrate craft beer into their “culinary” endeavors]

Boy, this one takes me back!

It’s my mom’s fault that I used to embarrass her in restaurants from time to time. She made me like this one culinary oddity that from time to time I’d be determined to order in a restaurant.

Egg Sandwich.

The recipe’s simple: It’s a fried egg splashed with Worcestershire sauce slapped between two slices of white bread. Last night, I learned that it tastes really good with an English Mild. So, go try that.

If you think it’s weird to put Worcestershire sauce on an egg, let me invite you to try this bonus recipe: It’s a fried egg spanked with Sriracha sauce slapped between two slices of white bread. Pour yourself a saison and enjoy!

I’ve had more Egg Sandwiches than I can count. My mom too used to make me one but her recipe goes like this. (2) slices of toast spread with 1oz of cream cheese, (2) fried eggs (in a scrambled patty). I like to add pepper or cajun spices to mine, but you can spice to taste. The cream cheese makes this….if I don’t have cream cheese, I don’t eat Egg Sandwiches. period. (I wonder how Worcestershire sauce would taste with the cream cheese…)

I bet the Sriracha would be good with cream cheese. What beer are you thinking?
