From time to time, folks continue to ask me about that fast-breaking, Bacon Smoothie Recipe. Some are enthused about the concept and others find it repulsive. Well, it’s not just water and bacon, you know. It works because, despite the fact that the juxtapositioning of the words bacon and smoothie seem odd, all its parts marry quite well: berries and chocolate, bacon and chocolate, berries and bacon.
For the longest time, I couldn’t find the scrap of paper on which the championship life of this dish was recorded. Until now. It’s amazing what a little throwing-away-of-crap will do!
So here it is, in all its bacony glory:
- 1/2 c plain yogurt
- 1 c soy milk
- 1/2 c frozen raspberries
- 1/2 c frozen blueberries
- 1/4 c fresh kale
- 2 strips bacon-you know, already fried
- 2 T cocoa powder
- 2 T honey
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Toss it all in a blender and whiz it up good. Serve in your favorite goblet and garnish with another slice of bacon.
