Brewvana’s Diary of a Part-Time Monk side project garnered broad media attention during Lent of 2011. J. did numerous interviews telling the story of doppelbock as well as reporting his experience in surviving on doppelbock and water for 46 days. A few notable pieces didn’t make it to a website (breaking the fast with a bacon smoothie while chatting with BBC comes to mind) and a few links no longer appear to be working (Des Moines Register, the Catholic Herald and a pair of articles in the Chicago Tribune).
