Preamble to the Denver beer posts

We the Kyle and J. of brewvana, in Order to form a more perfect Beer Trip to Denver, establish a base layer, insure Gastro Tranquility, provide for the common deliciousness, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Beer to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Thumbs-up for Sam’s #3.

Before I get too deep into the beer destinations on last weekend’s trip to Denver for the Beer Drinker of the Year finals at Wynkoop Brewing Company, I thought I’d just throw out a quick breakfast endorsement. Because these kinds of things matter on a beer trip.

At Marty Jones’ recommendation, we stopped by Sam’s #3. Established in 1927, this is a great place for a Base Layer or for a Morning After. My Yukon Skillet served as both, to be honest. Sauteed Canadian bacon, onions, bell peppers and hollandaise sauce served over a mountain of home fries and topped with two eggs over easy and a side of sourdough toast, the Yukon did the job.

Featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, this place is the real deal, and you should check it out. But be prepared to wait–we sat around for 45 minutes waiting for a table. Don’t worry; they have Bloody Marys and the food and coffee really was worth it.
